Developing Plant
Todays field check revealed more parts that are the foundation of our developing corn plant!
Lateral seminal roots
These unsung heros are what will bring nutrients to the young plant and help anchor it in the soil!
Mesocotyl
The mesocotyl is the tubular, white, stemlike tissue connecting the seed and the base of the coleoptile. Basically it is the beginning of what we see as the stalk of the plant below the soil
Radicle Root
And of course the radicle root will continue to grow downward into the soil, anchoring the seedling and many fibrous roots will shoot off of it.
