Beyond the Seed
So much has been happening beneath the soil since our last photo op and that tiny, shriveled seed has already germinated , sprouted AND sent out its radicle root and mesocotyl.
The mesocotyl is the tubular, white, stemlike tissue connecting the seed and the base of the coleoptile. Basically it is the beginning of what we see as the stalk of the plant below the soil.
The radicle root is the ‘boss root’ and is responsible for absorbing water and nutrients as it supplies the developing plant with all it needs until the leaves start the photosynthesis process which will in turn complete the incredible plant support system!
This growing process is ‘a-maize-ing’!
