Worms
Let’s talk about worms !
We LOVE worms! They are one of our favourite natural beneficiaries in our soil and we try to do everything we can to protect their environment.
Why would we do that? Well worms recycle nutrients and improve soil structure! These farmers helpers consume dead plant matter converting it into nitrogen, phosphorus and beneficial bacteria. Worms loosen, mix and oxygenate our soil as they burrow which allows for better water penetration and less soil erosion.
One of the key reasons that we always drive on the same row and never where we plant is to reduce soil compaction for the corn plants root system but another secondary benefit is that this process also provides better living conditions for our worm friends!
We truly are in this together and always striving to reduce our footprint on our growing environment! Let’s all do our part to be good stewards of the land we are blessed to call home!
